Accrington Stanley Women have announced that their historic Adobe Women’s FA Cup second-round tie against Huddersfield Town will be played at the Wham Stadium on Sunday 24th November.

It is the first time that the club has reached the second-round of the competition, and after beating Rossington Main Ladies FC in the first-round proper, they will now take on National League Division One North outfit Huddersfield, who play their football two tiers above Stanley Women.

Kick-off at the Wham Stadium is at 1pm, with tickets priced at £2.50 per person, while matchday hospitality is also available in Stanley’s world class hospitality venue, priced at £20 per person, including both a match ticket and a one-course meal.

Alongside matchday hospitality in the 1968 Lounge, Coley’s will also be open from 11am for supporters to enjoy a drink before and after the game, while the kiosk will be open behind the Farleys Solicitors Stand (Clayton End).

For what will be one of Accrington Stanley Women’s biggest games to date, they will also be inviting the 250+ players currently registered with the club to cheer on the first team at the Wham Stadium.

Match tickets can be purchased online here: https://www.venuetoolbox.com/AccringtonStanley/ASP/bookTickets.aspwith tickets available under the ‘ASFC Events’ tab, while hospitality tickets can be purchased by calling 01254 356950 (OPT 2).

Excitement is high amongst the Stanley Women players, management team and supporters, with the club having won all 12 games so far this season.

The club’s FA Cup journey began back in early September when a brace from Ellie Rice helped James Mallett’s side on their way to a 7-0 win at Silsden in the first qualifying round.

Next up was a trip to Warrington and despite a closer affair this time, Stanley Women prevailed with goals from Ocean Flanagan, Niamh Corrigan and a double from Grace Hindley.

A home tie against Macclesfield FC Women came the club’s way in the third qualifying round and it was another five star performance for the Reds, with Emily Owens and a brace apiece for Corrigan and Hindley securing a 5-2 victory, and an historic first-round tie against Rossington Main Ladies.

Flossie Jones was the hero in the first-round, and Stanley Women will be looking to go one step further when they walk out at the Wham Stadium for the first time this season on Sunday 24th November.

Sami Smithson, Chair of Accrington Stanley Women, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Accrington Stanley for inviting us to play at the Wham Stadium for what is one of the biggest games in our history.

“The players and management have excelled so far this season, and this is a fantastic reward for them to be able to play at the Wham Stadium against very strong opposition.

“We have always had a great backing when we have played at the Wham before and we are expecting a big crowd to cheer us on, for what will be a momentous day for everyone involved with Accrington Stanley Women.”

David Burgess, Managing Director of Accrington Stanley, said: “Stanley Women are enjoying a fantastic season and it will be great to see them playing here at the Wham Stadium.

“We have been following their FA Cup run very closely and we would encourage everyone to get their tickets early for what will be a massive day here in Accrington.”
