The full line-up has been announced for this Saturday’s Christmas Extravaganza and Laser Display in Great Harwood, which will feature one of the biggest selling boybands of the 90s and a tribute to one of the most popular stars in the world right now Taylor Swift.
A free-to-attend event, the action will get underway at 10am on Queen Street and outside Mercer Hall. It is outside Mercer Hall where a mega video stage will be located, and which will be headlined by 90s stars East 17.
The full line-up for the main stage is as follows:
10am-11am: Helen Green Academy of Dance
11am – 11:30am: Sing-a-long ‘Frozen’ show with the Snow Sisters including a meet and greet afterwards
11:35am – 12pm: Neil Diamond Tribute
12:30pm: A Great Harwood Rovers procession led by Blowjangles, from Towngate to Mercer Hall, ending with a commemorative 50th anniversary photograph
12pm – 12:45pm: Talented singer Maggy Conanan
1pm – 1:25pm: A sing-a-long Elf show with a meet and greet afterwards
1:30pm – 1:55pm: Neil Diamond Tribute
2pm – 2:25pm: Sing-a-long show with the Snow Sisters including a meet and greet
2:30pm – 2:55pm: Singing from main stage host Gavin Young
3pm – 3:55pm: Sing-a-long Elf show with a meet and greet
4pm – 4:30pm: Taylor Swift Tribute
4:45pm – 5:25pm: Headliners East 17
5:25pm – 5:30pm: A crowd sing-a-long with Gavin Young and East 17
5:30pm: Countdown to silent stage spark fountains, confetti cannon and silent laser sky show
Alongside the free, live entertainment, there will also be a funfair throughout the event, a free bucking reindeer, face painting and hair glitter, as well as wreath making workshops, performing arts workshops, buskers in venues around the town and a Santa’s Grotto from 2pm to 3pm.
There will also be a fantastic range of food, drink and festive stalls on offer, with visitors able to enjoy venison and wild boar burgers, Neapolitan pizza, hot chocolate, mulled wine, hot dogs, loaded fries, Dutch pancakes, waffle sticks, cakes and sweet treats, as well as cuisine from around the world including Thai, Caribbean and Asian street food.
Those looking to enjoy a drink will have plenty of opportunities with several stalls serving alcohol throughout the event, including the popular tuk tuk bar from Tiger Lounge.
Alongside the food, there will be a number of other stalls offering and selling children’s toys, candles, confectionary, handmade fragrances, wax melts, origami, sculptures and much more.
Funded by UK Government’s High Street Accelerator Pilot Programme and delivered by Hyndburn Borough Council, the Great Harwood Christmas Extravaganza is the grand finale to three Christmas events which have taken place in the town over the last few weeks.
A free open top double decker bus will also be running on the day from Oswaldtwistle (10:30am) stopping at Church and Rishton, from Rawtenstall (12pm) stopping at Haslingden, Baxenden, Accrington, Altham and Clayton-le-Moors, as well as from Clitheroe (2pm) stopping at Whalley on the way to Great Harwood.
