The most popular event in Accrington’s calendar is fast approaching and organisers have announced an extra special treat for visitors, in the shape of a German aeroplane!
Accrington Food and Drink Festival, taking place on Saturday 1stJune, is in its 22ndyear and made possible through the support of sponsors: Hyndburn Borough Council, Studio.co.uk, Property Shop and Accrington and Rossendale College.
Miles Parkinson, Leader of Hyndburn Borough Council said:
“This event is one of the highlights of the year for Accrington, and 2019 will be no different. Last year over 14,000 people attended, and we are aiming to exceed this. Not only will there be over 70 stalls with a variety of international cuisine on offer, we have live cooking demonstrations and are honouring our heritage with commemorations to the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, which falls in the same week.
There will be a static display on the Town Square, featuring a Messerschmitt ME 109/Bf 109 plane! Yet again Scott Dawson, organisers, have managed to make a fantastic event even more exciting! It’s something Hyndburn borough Council are proud to support, and I hope to see families and friends filling the town and having fun.”
Steven Chippendale, Managing Director of Property Shop said:
“The Accrington Food and Drink festival is about more than just eating food, it’s a fantastic family day out and Property Shop are really excited to be involved as sponsors. Alongside the wonderful stalls the event commemorates the 75thAnniversary of D-Day, with a war re-enactment in the grounds of St. James Church and an actual WWII fighter plane on the Town Square! I encourage everyone to come along, it’s a true community event. Our team will be around on the day too so please do give us a wave if you see us!”
Lindsay Hurst, Marketing Director at both Accrington and Rossendale College and Nelson and Colne College said:
“Accrington and Rossendale College are proud to sponsor such a wonderful event. Most of our students and staff attend the annual event and it is always a fantastic day. This year we will be making fruit kebabs on our stall, encouraging healthy eating and staying hydrated. These will be made and served by our students and we will have staff on hand who are free to chat about the variety of courses and opportunities we have available.”
Sharon Benson, HR Director at Studio.co.uk said:
“I attended the Accrington Food and Drink Festival last year and it was fantastic. As a large business, with most of our colleagues from the surrounding area, it was something Studio really wanted to get involved in.
I am pleased to announce, not only are we sponsors of the event, we will also have our own hook a duck stall too with a large variety of toys up for grabs! Studio.co.uk retail a huge range toys for children of all ages, often we have photography samples available and we thought an ideal home for them was a community event like this. The stall will be run by our charity committee and all monies raised will be split between our chosen charities for this year: MIND, Derian House Children’s Hospice and Dr. Kershaws Hospice.”
