Accrington Stanley Women have invited Ukrainian guests and their host families to attend this weekend’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup match against Mossley AFC Women, being played at Padiham FC.
As a symbol of unity, the Club are also asking all their women’s reserve and junior players to be part of their pre-match photocall, which will also include their Ukrainian guests and host families, and will be taken on the pitch before kick-off.
Transport is also being provided for the invited guests from Accrington and their host families, plus food and entry to the stadium has been arranged.
Sara Britcliffe, MP for Hyndburn and Haslingden, said: “As somebody who grew up with football, through school and family, I am so excited to see the Accrington Stanley Women doing so well, and it brings back fond memories. It’s also wonderful that they have invited our Ukrainian guests to watch the game.”
Kelly Groves, Chair of Accrington Stanley Women, commented: “We are extremely excited for this weekend’s FA Cup tie and what better way of marking the occasion than inviting all our fantastic Ukrainian guests and their host families from across Hyndburn to the match.
“We are unbeaten in the League so far this season and will be looking to take that form into the FA Cup, in front of what we expect to be our biggest gate of the campaign so far.”
For anyone looking to attend this Sunday, the game – which is being sponsored by London tech firm Behind Every Cloud – kicks off at 2pm and is being hosted at Padiham Football Club (Burnley BB12 8LB), with tickets priced at £3 per adult and £1 for U18s. The clubhouse and bar will be open from 12:30pm for food and refreshments.
