Accrington Stanley’s Wham Stadium has been ranked as the 12th best match experience out of all 92 football league grounds by one of the UK’s leading sports journalists.

Chief Sports Writer at the Daily Mail, Oliver Holt, completed his tour of all 92 clubs on 1st April, from which he ranked all the clubs he had visited based on his experiences.

Accrington Stanley were the highest ranked Lancashire club in the national review, also ranking higher than the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City.

Talking about his visit to the Wham Stadium, Oliver said: “The ground has improved out of all recognition since he [Andy Holt] became involved, and any visit to it is a visit to the heart of the difference one man can make to a football club and a community.”

Accrington Stanley are proud to boast world class hospitality facilities at The Venue at Stanley including the 1968 Lounge, Coley’s, The Gallery and The 1968 Snug.

The 1968 Lounge hosts hospitality on matchdays and is open to both home and away supporters, with a three course meal, half-time refreshments, table service, match ticket (included) and much more for just £59 per person.

Limited tickets are remaining for Accrington Stanley’s final two home games of the season against Carlisle United and Chesterfield. To book, call 01254 356950 (OPT 1) or email commercial@accringtonstanley.co.uk.

Around the ground and the fans stadium experience has also been enhanced in recent times, with the Official Accrington Stanley Supporters’ Trust (OASST) unveiling brand new directional signage last August, aimed at informing both home and away supporters about key areas at the ground.

These included the Farleys Solicitors Clayton End Stand, the iMEP Eric Whalley Family Stand, the Coppice Stand for away fans, the HML Recycling Jack Barrett Stand, matchday kiosks, as well as other important locations such as parking.

Warren Eastham, CEO of Accrington Stanley, said: “We are proud of the experience that we deliver here at Accrington Stanley and it is great to see that being rewarded on the national stage.

“From matchday hospitality to the general match experience, we have worked hard as a club to continue improving and we thank Oliver Holt for his kind comments and review.”
