Recently Coley’s Bar, the £2.5m hospitality venue at the Wham Stadium, home of Accrington Stanley hosted a Player’s Awards evening for the Accrington Stanley Women Football Club. Over 250 guests made up of players, coaches and enthusiastic supporters cheered on the deserving winners.
Kelly-Ann Groves, the Chair of Accrington Stanley Women FC since 2021, handed out over 130 awards alongside Bryn Tracey, Head Coach and other members of the coaching team, including awards for development and leadership in addition to Golden Boot and performance awards.
Kelly-Ann commented, “We’re here for our first annual Awards Evening, where we’re awarding all players in the club for their commitment over the last season including some outstanding achievements. I’m really proud of everyone involved, everyone has worked so hard and they deserve their night.”
Highlights of the awards for the First Team included Player’s Player of The Season, awarded to Tish Reyes; Manager’s Player of The Season going to Tanya Nash; Supporter’s Player of The Season was awarded to Cara McCormick, and Overall Development Across the Season for Louise Simpson. All the winners through the age groups can be found on their social media feeds.
David Burgess, Managing Director of Accrington Stanley FC, was on hand to congratulate the players. He commented, “What a fantastic night we’ve had here at Accrington Stanley. Loads of awards and presentations for the Accrington Stanley Women, and Girls from under 11 right up to the open age team. There’s a lot of talent in and around Accrington, and it’s been brought out through the teams that they’ve got here at Accrington Stanley Women FC. They’re doing a fantastic job, and if you do want to get involved with women and girl’s football, come along – speak with the Accrington Stanley Women’s team, it’s a great future to be part of this fantastic set up.”
