Children will get the chance to showcase their festive creativity with a free wreath-making workshop at the Great Harwood Christmas Extravaganza on Saturday 14th December.

Taking place in the Mercer Hall Area as part of the Christmas Shows, Music and Fireworks event, the workshop will run between 10 am and 4 pm, with a total of 60 slots available throughout the day for Under 12s only.

Places are limited to 10 per session, with a total of six workshops. Those looking to get creative and make a Christmas wreath for their home or family, are encouraged to sign up for the sessions as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

The free workshops are part of a spectacular day of festivities in Great Harwood on Saturday 14th December, which will include a main stage featuring a Taylor Swift Tribute as the support act to the event’s main headliner, East 17.

The free-to-attend Christmas Shows, Music and Silent Fireworks Extravaganza will take place from 10 am to 5:30 pm in the Mercer Hall area and will feature a number of star performances including sing-a-long Frozen and elf shows, singing from a Neil Diamond Tribute and local singer Maggy Conanan, as well as Gavin Young, who will also be compering the main stage throughout.

Alongside the main stage there will be a fireworks display, Christmas craft and food stalls, a Santa’s grotto, children’s fairground rides, performances from a brass band, roaming characters, buskers, and community workshops featuring dancing, singing, music and Christmas card making, plus much more.

Cllr Kimberley Whitehead, Portfolio Holder for Culture, Heritage and Arts, said: “The wreath-making workshops are a great way for young children to get creative and to ramp up the festivities even more.

“There are 60 spots available throughout the day, so we would urge people to sign up as soon as they can to avoid disappointment.”
