Great Harwood Rovers have been a fixture in the local community since 1975. They are an FA Charter Standard Community Club, run solely by local volunteers for children’s grassroots football. The club now comprises of 28 teams for girls and boys ranging in age from Under 7s to Under 18s, plus a Mini League for 4 to 6-year-olds – with over 350 active participants in the 2023/24 season.

In order to raise funds to keep the club active and sustainable, Rovers are very grateful for help and support from local businesses. Recently Townfield Mobility signed a three-year sponsorship deal for the Arena, lasting until 2026 – it will now be known as the Townfield Mobility Arena! The family behind Townfield have been active with Great Harwood Rovers for more than 25 years, through parents Maria and the late Jeff Timmins sponsoring the teams, and later sons Michael and John playing for them.

Nigel Sutton, Chairman of Great Harwood Rovers, commented: “We cannot thank Townfield Mobility enough for agreeing to sponsor our arena. The money raised helps us to keep our club inclusive, by keeping subs as low as possible – so as many children as possible can participate. We can also continue to invest in our great facilities and maintain them to a high standard – we signed a 25-year lease for the site in 2017, so lots of plans for the future.

The Timmins family have been involved with the club for many years, and it’s wonderful to see them do well in business and be able to give something back to our local community.”

Michael Timmins added, “We have a long family history with Great Harwood Rovers and they’re a real asset to our local community. The work they do with children to build their confidence and keep them active is great to see, and I hope our sponsorship helps to keep them sustainable and around for a long time to come.

I’ll be very proud to drive past the Townfield Mobility Arena on my way to work each morning!”

Sara Britcliffe, MP for Hyndburn and Haslingden, also added: “The work that Great Harwood Rovers do for our community is so important, I’m really supportive of them. To run 28 grassroots football teams including girls teams, is fantastic for the health and wellbeing of our local children.”
