Leading Lancashire housewares manufacturer, What More UK, has announced the appointment of a new Director of Manufacturing, Mr Rob Walker.
Mr Walker joined What More UK in 2014 as Manufacturing Manager. Six years later he’s overseen some big projects and changes in infrastructure. The company frequently brings out new products, often requiring new moulds. There’s an impressive collection of machinery too, all of which needs skilled workers to maintain and operate.
Rob Walker left school to work for a plastic mouldings company. He made the most of his time learning as much as he could about the materials, the processes, and the sector. After 17 years he’s become an expert in his field through hard work and determination.
Rob Walker commented:
“I’m extremely grateful to everyone at What More UK, there are so many people who have helped me and guided me in the right direction.”
“I’m lucky to work for What More. It’s a top firm which takes care of its staff, it’s customers, and the wider community. As Manufacturing Director I hope to continue the success of this Great British manufacturing company.”
By promoting Mr Walker to the board of directors, What More UK is continuing a tradition that has existed in the company since its beginnings. All the directors have worked their way up into that position of responsibility from within the company. It’s an inspirational story that should serve as motivation for generations of school leavers.
Tony Grimshaw OBE, company Director, added:
“We’re glad to have Rob working with us. He’s proved himself over and over again, and he deserves the top job. Well done Rob.”
