Slip and slide … the downpour didn’t dampen the day in #AmazingAccrington for the Soapbox Challenge.
Saturday 31stAugust saw over 9,000 people come to Accrington Town Centre; over 30 soapbox challenge entries, 40 classic, sports and super cars; and 30 food and drink stalls. Taking the crown from last year’s winner, CM Oxendale, was Emerson and Renwick’s ‘The Chicken Run’.
Dominic Henry, Design Engineer at Emerson and Renwick, and Soapbox driver, said:
“There is only one Chicken Run! There was a fantastic turnout of people to watch and they were giving support to all contestants, really spurring everyone on to do well. It’s been an amazing day and we can’t wait to be back next year.”
Zahida, Events Director, commented:
“It has been a fantastic, successful day despite the rain. Not only did the great people of Accrington show up to support, but we had a lot of people come from near and far. We’d like to say thank you to the sponsors who helped make this happen – Emerson and Renwick, Financial Affairs, and North Lancs Training Group; as well as Hyndburn Borough Council for working with us to provide a fun filled family day out for all.”
