A Sport and Sport Sciences student at Accrington and Rossendale College is seeing stars – three of them in fact – after gaining Triple Distinction* in her BTEC qualification.
Fitness fanatic Ellie Armstrong, 18, from Accrington, netted the highest grade she could achieve during her time at the College, where she has shown dedication and commitment to her studies. She also has a part time job at the college’s sports centre, where she is a fitness instructor.
Ellie, formerly of The Hollins, said: “My results are great and the qualification will enable me to gain an even deeper and more accurate understanding of the subject through my BSc Sports Science and Coaching degree at Accrington and Rossendale College. The college was always going to be my first choice for Higher Education and I’m happy to progress.
“I have enjoyed my last two years at Accrington and Rossendale College, because it is a fantastic place to study with modern facilities and brilliant staff members.
“The college has always felt safe and welcoming and I have enjoyed the subject – it is full of informative lessons and practical sessions, which enable you to really develop your knowledge.
“Most importantly, my wonderful tutors have made my time at the college enjoyable. They are supportive, helpful, fun and are always there to help you reach your full potential. In particular, they have continued to help me increase my confidence, which I have always struggled with. I would 100% recommend the College to others.
“My career goal is to have my own fitness business, which offers both one to one personal training sessions and group community classes. I would also love to take my fitness experience into schools.”
Following a successful merger in 2018, Accrington and Rossendale College is now led by Nelson and Colne College, one of the highest performing colleges in the country. Students attending this College can now expect to receive the same quality that is offered at its sister college – including phenomenal teaching, strong industry links, extensive wraparound support and outstanding facilities, following a £4million redevelopment.
For classroom achievement, at all ages and levels, Accrington and Rossendale College now places in the top five colleges nationally. It is also a top 10 college nationally for student satisfaction, and now sits with its partner Nelson and Colne College as number one in Lancashire for 16-18 Advanced Apprenticeships.
