Accrington Stanley Women are now top of the North West Womens Regional League – Division One North after beating Carlisle United Ladies 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.
A goal from Captain Millie Jardine and a brace from Georgia Payton secured all three points for Kristian Perry’s side in Cumbria.
A fourth consecutive league win following recent victories against Preston North End Women, Bolton Wanderers Girls and Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies Reserves, sees Stanley Women climb to the top of the table after eight games.
Playing against an experienced Carlisle side, Stanley Women started on the front foot and took the lead after just two minutes, with Payton firing the Reds in front for her third goal of the season, in just her third appearance for the club.
Perry’s confident side kept pushing for a second and just before half-time, captain Jardine lead by example and headed home to double the away side’s lead.
Stanley Women needed a fantastic save from Tanya Nash to preserve their two-goal lead, before Payton sealed the win with her fourth goal in three games.
Kristian Perry, First Team Head Coach at Accrington Stanley Women, said: “It was a long trip for the team, against a strong, experienced and well organised Carlisle team, but we put in another very strong performance and we continue to grow in confidence every week.”
Accrington Stanley Women are next in action on Sunday 29th October when they take on Penwortham Town Ladies. The game kicks off at 2pm and will be played at the Accrington Stanley Sports Hub.
